Meet David Odongo, he is a resident of TE-TUGU cell Lango central ward. The part of the CASCADE training that impacted him the most was on shifting gender norms affecting the consumption of healthy diets, and the MIYCAN cards that educated him on nutrition, understanding malnutrition and how to grow nutritious foods. He decided that its time to change some of the beliefs he had from his cultural upbringing that said that certain parts of the chicken were exclusive for him as head of the household alone while the remaining parts are shared by my wife and the children. After attending the CASCADE training, he realized that this was a bad habit he inherited, and he needed to change. He also realized that it is his role to ensure that good nutrition and the health of his wife and children is his responsibility and that the women and children equally need to eat just like the men of the house. This has had an extremely positive impact on the health of his family. He now wants be the advocate of this transformation in his village.
